Rivulet Devotional Plan

This doesn’t have to take you an hour every day. It can be as short as 20 minutes! Think about it. That’s less than one episode of the average TV show. If you wake up 30 minutes earlier than you normally do, you can start every day off by reading, and then listening, journaling, or praying. If you watch one less episode of your show, play a little less games, or put away the phone for a bit, you can easily make time to spend with God.

Keep scrolling to see some different ways you might want to approach your time alone with God. You can also check out our Daily Scripture Schedule to help you stay on track with the rest of the youth group. Lastly, we have some suggested music to help you focus and a website to read the Bible if you don’t have your own copy yet (we recommend reading the New Living Translation, or the NLT).

So grab some coffee, a blanket, your Bible and a notebook. We guarantee God’s really looking forward to spending some quality time with you!

There’s many ways to spend time with God.

Read The Scripture

Rivulet primarily uses the New Living Translation (NLT) when reading the Bible. Spend the first 5-10 minutes reading your daily portion of Scripture. Don’t be afraid to highlight, underline, or jot down things that stand out to you as important, personally impacting, or even things you might be confused about and would like to discuss with a leader.

Look above to see Rivulet’s daily scripture reading schedule.

Listen for God’s Voice

Take a few minutes to listen for God’s voice. This isn’t a time to be talking to God, but to wait patiently. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear anything audible. God speaks to us in many different ways.

Remember, a lot of the time, silence in God’s presence is more important than anything spoken at all.

Journal/Draw

Write a few sentences in your journal about what you’ve read in today’s scripture, what you heard from God, or the peace you experienced in silence.

Perhaps you’d like to draw something that stood out to you or something that God placed on your heart.

Go for it!

Pray

Take the last 3-5 minutes to pray.

Begin by giving God thanks, then move forward with your praise, questions, and/or requests. Pray for yourself and/or others. Remember to end your prayers by giving God thanks.

In Jesus name, Amen!
